The granny’s chair quilt

This quilt was created using vintage fabrics salvaged from two chairs which my husband and I inherited from our grandmothers. I didn’t have the heart to throw the fabric away because it was crying out to be used. Washing the fabric in a pillow case kept it reasonably together. This fabric was quite delicate and threadbare in some places. There was enough salvaged fabric to make a border and a reasonable sized centre panel. The surround flourishes were drawn freehand and then hand stitched in a running stitch. I love the effect of the puckering. The quilt hangs above my bed and brings fond memories every day.
